Andreas Vrettos
Co-Founder and Associate Director
Andreas works across research policy, management and scholarly communication. He advises publishers, funders and universities at board level. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds an MSc in Higher Education Management from the University of Nottingham.
James Whitaker
Associate Director
James focuses on open research, scholarly publishing and research integrity. His portfolio includes more than 150 projects for major organisations. He holds an Engineering PhD from the University of Sheffield, an MBA and Chartered Manager status.
Olivia Bennett
Senior Analyst
Olivia brings two decades of experience in university administration and library services. Her work centres on research strategy, policy, funding and management. She earned her PhD in Information Studies at Nottingham Trent University.
Thomas Reed
Senior Analyst
With more than 25 years in research and knowledge exchange, Thomas has held director-level posts at two universities and previously worked with EPSRC. He advises on research strategy, systems delivery and institutional development. His PhD is from Loughborough University.
Eleanor Hughes
Business Manager
Eleanor has spent over 20 years supporting administration and business operations in small and medium-sized organisations. Earlier in her career, she worked in the public sector, with a focus on people management.
Luca Bianchi
Senior Consultant
Luca’s career includes hands-on responsibility for journal portfolios at IOP Publishing. He works on journal strategy, editorial-board relationships and research integrity. He holds a PhD in Materials Chemistry from the University of Nottingham.
Sofia Conti
Analyst
Sofia has worked in higher education for more than six years, focusing on scholarly communication and impact. She helped academics prepare case studies for REF 2021 and completed a PGDE at King’s College London.
Eleni Markou
Senior Associate Consultant
Eleni works as a researcher and data analyst, using qualitative and quantitative methods to capture evidence across varied projects. She earned an MRes in Psychological Research Methods from the University of Sheffield and holds a BA in Philosophy from the National University of Athens, Greece.
Charlotte Ellis
Associate Director
Charlotte’s background spans research funding, scholarly publishing and open science. She has held senior posts at Wellcome, F1000 and Taylor & Francis, served at board level with ORCID and Crossref, and is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at King’s College London. Her PhD in Medical Sociology and Social Research Methodology is from the University of Nottingham.
Maria Camilleri
Senior Consultant
Maria brings experience across scholarly communication, open science and international development. Her project work has included clients such as Wellcome, the British Academy, UKRI and Springer Nature. She is a qualitative researcher, holds PRINCE2 certification, and earned a BA in International Relations from Nottingham Trent University and an MSc in Evaluation and Policy Analysis from the University of Limerick.
Matteo Ricci
Associate Director – Finance and Operations
Matteo combines finance and business expertise with more than 25 years of professional experience. His career includes running his own company and holding senior commercial finance positions in corporate settings.
